Meet the Little Funky House
Butterfly Parlor
Step into an enchanting butterfly parlor — a whimsical retreat where art and imagination intertwine. The walls are adorned with vibrant artwork, kissed with touches of shimmering gold leaf. Delightful gold animals, each wearing spectacles and encased in ornate frames, adorn the walls — a charming nod to curiosity and character. Antique-colored vases rest on the mantle. A cozy accent rug grounds the space, while two bird and floral-patterned wingback chairs invite conversation and daydreams. The atmosphere feels straight out of Alice in Wonderland — a playful blend of elegance and fantasy. On the wall hangs the neon signature of this adventure casting a warm, surreal glow that makes the whole room hum with curiosity and charm.
Louise and Ray’s Dinette
Sunlight pours across walls painted in a bright, cheerful yellow, dancing off a backsplash of Maioliche Autumn Yellow tiles. The space hums with life and color — antique cookie jars are housed in the yellow-and-blue built-in hutch, while shelves display a rainbow of Fiesta dishware. Light blue cabinets, set against original beadboard, bring a gentle coastal charm.
A full-sized refrigerator with an ice maker stands across from a gas stove, alongside a dishwasher and an array of well-loved essentials — coffee maker, espresso machine, food processor, and every utensil one could need. Collections of whimsical salt and pepper shakers add personality and humor to the space.
This is a kitchen that invites play rather than work — a cozy, easy-to-use space where meals are made with joy, laughter, and a hint of nostalgia, just as Louise and Ray would have wanted.
The Garden Porch
A knee-length green picket fence wraps around a thriving garden filled with sixty-seven native Texas plants — a lively mix of color and texture that draws in bees and butterflies. From the screened-in porch, furnished with comfortable seating and cooled by a Texas-sized fan, you can sit back and take it all in.
The view extends to the outside yard, dotted with colorful, nostalgic yard art that tells its own stories of time and place. Just beyond, a little library stands within sight — a cheerful landmark for neighbors walking their dogs, waving as they pass by.
This space hums with easy charm and community spirit, where nature, comfort, and connection meet beneath the wide Texas sky.
The Blue Bath
Everything in this bathroom feels fresh and new — a serene retreat wrapped in shades of blue. The walls are painted a soft dusty blue, complemented by Rita blue floor tiles that add a gentle vibrancy underfoot. In the shower, deep dark blue tiles create a striking contrast, their glossy finish catching the light.
Fixtures lend a warm, timeless touch against the cool tones, while a textured privacy window lets in soft, natural light without sacrificing seclusion. The result is a calm, rejuvenating space that feels both classic and contemporary — a place to pause, refresh, and breathe.
Peacock Garden
A soft hush settles over the Peacock Garden Bedroom, where whimsy and comfort meet in perfect harmony. The room is carpeted and centered around a double bed dressed in a soft white chenille comforter. Walls bloom with peacock garden wallpaper — a graceful dance of pinks, greens, and feathered blues.
On either side of the bed, elegant peacock lamps perch upon matching bedside tables, their light casting a gentle glow. Shades and curtains provide privacy, while bright sunlight streams between the windows, illuminating tiny shelves that hold a charming menagerie — owls, glass poodles, ceramic eggs, and twin birds watching over the room.
A pink and gold painted wicker dresser offers cheerful storage, paired with a cozy closet for hanging clothes. Here, it feels entirely natural — even encouraged — to feed the birds that lend the space its joyful spirit.
Breath Space
Breath Space is a haven designed to quiet the mind and open the spirit — a unique breathing space with a gentle namaste feel. The walls, painted in a deep dark blue, create an atmosphere of calm introspection. Unique and playful wall masks add touches of personality and surprise, while the soft murmur of a bubbling fountain fills the air with serenity.
A comfortable daybed invites rest, and a softly glowing globe sits nearby — perfect for armchair travel and quiet dreaming. Gentle light wraps the room in warmth, creating a soothing rhythm that adds breaths to your life. A deep papasan chair with an ottoman anchors one corner, easing you into a slower, more peaceful space of time. Here, you can let go — and simply breathe.
Always Kiss Me Goodnight
The weathered stairs that lead to the primary bedroom have welcomed many visitors over time — their steps, worn smooth, whisper stories of laughter, love, and home. Each tread bears a gentle reminder painted in script: Always Kiss Me Goodnight. Along the way, mirrors of all shapes and sizes adorn the walls, catching flickers of light from a Turkish-Moroccan lamp that glows softly, guiding you upward.
Overhead, the ceiling blooms with a sophisticated floral print — deep, moody tones borrowed from a faraway botanical garden. Local cut crepe myrtle limbs line the staircase, fashioned into handrails that bring a touch of nature inside.
At the top, the primary bedroom opens into a sanctuary painted in a dark, restful gray. Deep hardwood floors add richness beneath a faux cowhide rug, while a zebra-accent chair invites quiet reading or reflection. A vanity table with a stool and lighted mirror stands ready, a little corner for calm rituals of self-care.
A full-size bed with a black-and-white print down-stuffed duvet blankets the resting spot, creating a cozy centerpiece for the room. Nearby, an extra sleeping nook offers a Japanese sleeping mat surrounded by oodles of pillows — a perfect place for a little one, an afternoon read, or quiet relaxation. Above, a playful disco ball doubles as the accent light, casting soft glimmers across the walls.
The en suite bathroom features a star-wall tile design across the floor and bath area, bringing a celestial touch to the space. A walk-in closet provides ample storage, while shades and privacy curtains add softness and seclusion.
This is Always Kiss Me Goodnight — a sanctuary for dreamers, where reflection and rest meet under the shimmer of a disco glow.
Schex La Vie
Bathed in a cheerful sunshine yellow, Schex La Vie glows with warmth and creativity. A comfortable couch invites you to relax and watch your favorite cartoons or that movie you’ve been meaning to enjoy. A plush rose cushion chair adds a soft burst of color, perfect for curling up with a book or taking in the lively atmosphere.
The walls are adorned with colorful art by Paul Schexnayder — a true Cajun artist from the bayous of Louisiana. His whimsical scenes of alligators, peacocks, and native fish mingle with his hilarious spoofs on Hollywood’s greatest movies, all delivered in his signature Cajun slang. A small shelf houses his children’s books, along with other favorite reads and classic board games, inviting everyone to let their hair down and play again.
A clever installation of letters, shaped from old books, adds a creative twist to the décor — a nod to imagination and reinvention. Layered floor rugs make it easy to sprawl out and enjoy the moment, while TV trays wait for puzzles or casual dining. This is a room for laughter, color, and connection — a joyful space where art and play meet under the bright light of Louisiana charm.
